Walnut and Purpleheart zig zag End Grain Cutting Board

This custom end grain cutting board was built for a client who wanted something that would function as both a kitchen workhorse and a display piece.
The board is constructed from walnut and purpleheart, measuring 20 x 17 x 2 inches. The design is a chevron pattern built from end grain walnut, with the sapwood placement deliberately arranged so the lighter grain traces the peaks of each row consistently across the full surface. The purpleheart frames the walnut field on all sides, adding a deep contrast in both color and grain.
The board is dual sided. One side features a juice groove for carving and handling large cuts of meat. The other side is completely flat for general prep work. Finger holds are cut into the sides for easy handling and transport.
The board comes with a custom display stand built from maple with purpleheart feet, allowing it to be stored upright on the counter when not in use.
